The Ultimate ERG Member Meeting Agenda

January 1, 2024

As the leader of an Employee Resource Group (ERG) at your company, you know firsthand the importance of regularly scheduled meetings to keep your team engaged and on track. But with so many demands on everyone's time, it's important to make sure your meetings are as efficient and effective as possible.

That's where having a solid agenda comes in. A clear agenda helps everyone come prepared and stay focused, and ensures that you make the most of your time together.

So, without further ado, here's a sample agenda for a one-hour ERG event that is simple, easy to replicate month over month, and a favorite among team members:

  • (10 minutes) Icebreakers - Start off your meeting with a fun and energizing icebreaker to help everyone get to know each other better and break the ice. This could be a quick game or activity, or even just a round of introductions if you have new members in attendance.
  • (5 minutes) Welcoming new members and group announcements - Take a few minutes to welcome any new members and make any important announcements about upcoming events or projects.
  • (40 minutes) Main activity - The main activity is the heart of your meeting, and will likely vary from month to month. This could be a presentation by a guest speaker, a team-building activity, or a discussion on a particular topic relevant to your ERG. Whatever you choose, make sure it aligns with your group's goals and mission and is engaging for all attendees.
  • (5 minutes) Feedback/Q&A - End your meeting with a few minutes for feedback and questions. This is a great opportunity for team members to share their thoughts on the meeting and offer any suggestions for improvement. It's also a chance to address any questions or concerns they may have.

For a shorter, 30-minute event, simply cut the main activity and icebreakers in half to fit the time constraint. And if you have a longer meeting, feel free to add in additional activities or breakout sessions as needed.

One of the great things about this agenda is that you can easily duplicate your slides and materials from month to month, adjusting only the icebreaker and main activity. This saves time and makes it easy to plan and execute successful ERG meetings that your team will look forward to attending.

So next time you're planning an ERG meeting, try out this tried-and-true agenda and watch as your team engagement and productivity soar. Happy meeting!
