VMWare's Black ERG Attends Afro Tech Conference
Black / African American
"As #AfroTech2022 comes to a close, I am overflowing with gratitude. For me, watching 9,000+ Black tech professionals gather in Austin to learn, grow, and recharge was a truly powerful experience. One of my favorite themes from the gathering was watching a truism of belonging play out: we all need spaces where we can truly be ourselves, so we can succeed in all of the other spaces where we may not find ourselves well reflected. AfroTech offers Black employees, who are often hyper-minoritized at their companies, a deep well of resilience and affirmation. The conference charged up attendees’ spiritual batteries, lit their flames, and inspired them in their careers. In addition, I was so proud of VMware, for supporting 35 team members to attend the conference. Big props to our Black ERG (Black@VMware) community for driving a heightened level of engagement throughout the conference! Special shout to Danielle Coleman for her PACKED session. The VMware team received myriad positive feedback about Danielle’s poise and wisdom. Every time I stopped by the VMware booth in the Expo Hall, it reminded me of why I’ve committed my professional career to DEI work. Here’s a picture of our brilliant, beautiful squad, repping Black excellence and allyship, at the VMware booth. "
