UPS' Black ERG Hosts Fireside Chat Titled “How to Embrace Being the Only One”

"Last week, I joined our Global Fleet Maintenance & Engineering President Carlton Rose and East Region President Trayce Parker during a fireside chat titled “How to embrace being the only one” with our African American Business Resource Group (BRG) members. We discussed the impact that being the “only one” had on our leadership journeys and how it’s shaped who we are today.

I so enjoyed hearing from Trayce as she shared key advice about keeping the door open and bringing others through the door with you. I couldn’t agree more as this is how we not only open the door for future leaders, but also pave a pathway for more people of diverse backgrounds into critical decision-making roles.

Carlton also shared similar sentiments about lifting others up and showcasing their strengths. This is what defines and differentiates good leaders — leading from a servant leadership perspective. I fully believe bringing others to the table with diverse perspectives creates business agility and furthers our journey toward building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization and world."
