Meta Celebrates Black History Month with Artist and Designer Kelly Walters who Creates Digital Artwork
Black / African American
"📣 We were, we are, and we will be.
In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, artist and designer Kelly Walters developed digital artwork that will live as an installation in Meta’s Seattle office. Kelly was inspired by African Dutch wax prints and textiles known as Ankara prints. In Kelly’s words, “I wanted the line work in my pattern to have an irregular quality that was not perfectly uniform, as a nod to imperfections.”
Kelly’s design practice looks closely at the complexities of identity formation, systems of value, and shared vernacular in and around Black visual culture.'"
